Dayspring Foundation Restores Hope Among Widows, Orphans In Lagos Suburb

Sunday December 20, 2015 was indeed a great and joyous moment for hundreds of widows in Ijegun, Alimosho area of Lagos State.
That day, the widows as well as their children numbering over 1,000 had a wonderful time as a non-governmental organization (NGO), Dayspring Foundation, hosted bothers and children as well as hundreds of orphans to a thanksgiving and Christmas party as part of the yuletide season events.
The event, which was held at the expansive Tawakalita Plaza along Alli Momodu Street, Ijegun, from to, featured special testimonies, praises and dances by the participants as well as a talk show on harnessing the God-given talents by individuals, especially the youths.
The occasion also featured free distribution of food items such as bags of rice, noodles, beverages, for the widows and the orphans. Also,, clothing materials, pairs of shoes, hand bags, toys were freely presented to them.
Speaking at the occasion, President and Visioner of Dayspring Foundation, Mrs Aramide Oikelome, thanked the Lord for the smooth operation of the organization and the lives of the members in the out-going year, even as she described 2016 as a glorious year for the ministry.
According to her, “The year 2016 is a glorious year. It is a year of blessing and celebrations. We have reasons to thank God as year 2015 draws to an end. Although things were difficult, people still saw food to eat.
“We must thank God for good health. Many died in 2015, but we are al alive to see the year 2016. We therefore have reasons to thank the Lord.”
After her short exhortation, Mrs. Oikelome led the widows and their children as well as the orphans in powerful prayers of thanksgiving, deliverance and blessings.
During a media chat, Mrs Oikelome stated that the Dayspring Foundation started 13 years ago to offer succor to the needy especially the widows and orphans and that it has outreaches in several areas of Lagos, including Ijegun and Akute, and plans to expand to several other places in the new year.
“We also reach out to different orphanages in other to provide succor to the less privileges and the needy in the society.
“The items we distribute to the widows and the orphans are donated by friends and partners. They include clothes, shoes, handbags, bags of rice, salt, noodles, among others,” she added.
According to her, running the Foundation has been challenging, but eventful and fulfilling, even as she expressed the hope that the coming years will bring about more expansion and services to mankind, especially the needy.
“I have seen lives transformed from abject poverty and hopelessness. I have also seen lives delivered and transformed as you can see from the testimonies of the widows today.
“Our scholarship scheme has also helped a lot of families as many of the widows have been supported to send their children to schools, some to higher institutions of learning, while those who had nothing doing have been aided to become busy in lucrative ventures.
“I believe that the year 2016 will be a year of Greater Heights for the ministry, the coordinators, the widows and the orphans as God will do a lot of good things in our midst,” Mrs Oikelome concluded.
