Lagos – Adeka Daudu, the head coach of national U-17 female basketball team, has released a list of 14 players for this year’s FIBA U-17 World Cup in Zaragoza, Spain from June 23 to July 3, 2016.

The Nigeria U-17 side are entering their last phase of preparation for their maiden FIBA U17 Women’s World Championship appearance.

Having initially selected a wide field of 21 players, the coach, over the weekend, reduced them to 14, as his team try to make a mark in Spain.

On the list included Nigeria’s leading scorer from last year’s FIBA Africa U16 Women’s Championship, Rita Happy James, who remains on course to lead the charge in Zaragoza.

Her offensive output will be vital and especially if she can find the same kind of scoring touch, which returned 12.5 points per game in Madagascar.

The hard work in the paint will be undertaken by Ene Blessing Adams, who racked up an eye-popping 13.5 boards per game last year to help catapult her team to the Final.

The 14 players include Ene Blessing Adams, Eloha Adazor, Onome Mary Akinbode-James and Adeola Halimot Badmos.

Others are Peace Amarachi Chinyere, Jennifer Adaeze Ezeh, Monica Ezekiel, Lucy Ibeh, Rita Happy James, Isioma Oduah and Ada Agnes Paul. The rest include Anita Seye Omotayo Ruth Udueyin, Abiodun Damilare Yusuf.
