The Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prisons Services Board (CDFIPB) Monday announced the retirement of two senior officers of the Nigerian Prisons Service as Abdulrahman Danbazzau, the Interior Minister, sustains ongoing retirement of senior staff of agencies under the ministry.

The affected officers are Aminu Suley, a Deputy-Comptroller General of Prisons, and Ali Baba Salami, an Assistant Comptroller General. Their retirement took effect from June 28, 2016.

According to a statement by Francis Enobore, spokesman of the Nigerian Prisons Service, their disengagement from service was sequel to the appointment of Ja’afaru Ahmed, a junior to the retired officers, as substantive Comptroller General of the Nigeria Prison Service.

Enobore said a letter confirming their retirement was signed by Alhaji A. A. Ibrahim, the Secretary of the CDFIPB Board, indicating that the decision was taken due to the officers’ seniority in service to the new Comptroller-General of Prisons, and in consonance with military and paramilitary convention.

The board also commended the officers for their contributions to the development of the Nigerian Prisons Service.
