Activities at the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, may soon grind to a halt as crisis looms in the community over the choice of who succeeds the immediate past rector of the school, Mrs. Phillipa Idogho.

Reliable information reaching the Independent reveals that while Idogho has been accused of teleguiding the process in order to be succeeded by a ‘loyalist, those opposed to this move are insisting that her successor must be an independent person who will be bold enough to institute a probe into all the alleged allegations that characterises the tenure of Idogho’ eight year tenure as the institution’s rector.

Independent reliably gathered that sources at the institution accused the Rector of mismanagement of whooping N80million allegedly collected from the Federal Government for the repainting of the school buildings in 2009.

According to another source the issues at stake were beyond the intricacies of playing out in the institution at the moment.

“It’s beyond that. It’s not even an issue for us now. The problem on ground is migration. That’s moving us to the next grade level as directed by the Federal Government linking us to IPPIS (the new FG salary payment structure); payment of our promotion arrears and of course the removal of some group against people’s demand.”

“Meanwhile, that she is still occupying her office after more than two months that she should have handed over to a ‘duly’ selected successor is giving her opponents goose pimples that she is working behind the scene to manipulate the choice”, the source said.

According to a source, “Idogho should step aside and let due process to be employed in picking a new rector for the Auchi Polytechnic.

“Never again will the process to select a Rector for the institution be screwed like in her own case whereby she benefitted through her closeness to a former Edo State born aide of the then President Goodluck Jonathan. She became rector of Auchi Polytechnic by mmamadu (man knows man),” the source added.

The alleged sins committed by the former Rector include; non-payment of eight years basic allowances which amount to 10% of basic salary for academic staff and 8.5% for none -academic staff under the pretence that they do not exist, the de-migration of staffs from CONTISS 15, and non payment of the 13th month otherwise called the leave bonuses among others.
