A 20-year-old man Abubakar Abdullahi, on Monday, July 22, 2015, appeared before a Senior Magistrates’ Court in Katsina over alleged culpable homicide.

Abdullahi, who resides at Sabuwar-Unguwa Area, Katsina, is being charged alongside Mustapha Dido and Hamza Isa, now at large.

The accused is standing trial before Senior Magistrate Nafisa Bagiwa on a count charge of culpable homicide for allegedly conspiring with Dido and Isa in stabbing one Musa Audu to death.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Hashimu Musa, told the court that the accused and his friends had on October 3, 2014 at about 3:00p.m. attacked the victim with a knife and killed him.

The prosecutor said that the victim was stabbed several times and left unconscious.

He said that the deceased was taken to the General Hospital, Katsina, where he died while receiving treatment.

He said that the accused committed an offence, contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code.

Bagiwa, however, said that the court would not take the plea of the accused as it lacked the jurisdiction to do so.

She ordered the police to continue investigation into the matter and directed that the case file should be forwarded to the state’s Ministry of Justice for advice.

According to the senior magistrate, after the completion of police investigation and upon the receipt of legal advice from the ministry, the accused will be arraigned.

Bagiwa adjourned the case to July 9 and ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody.
