The Integrity Group in Rivers State has expressed shock over the action of the former Governor Rotimi Amaechi who has filed a  defamation suit seeking N300 Billion damage over allegations of embezzlement of Rivers monies levelled against him.

The Group had championed and pioneered this campaign in a petition to President Muhamadu Buhari, ICPC and EFCC respectively, demanding the investigation of the former Governor over these allegations of embezzlement of more than N70 Billion proceeds from the secret and fraudulent sales of our Assets including four Power Plants, Internally generated Revenue fraud, and the famous Karibi Whyte Hospital conduit pipe project wherein Rivers state was put for sale.

“The question now is; why the euphoria and mischievous media hype of the still fiction libel suit yet filed on the media, given that parties are not served? What 300 Billion Naira is he claiming when he has not cleared his name giving that he does not like money? If you file a Suit, why celebrate it?

“As leader of the Integrity Group, I dare the former Governor to stop running helter skelter but settle down and do just one simple thing, boldly come forward with facts and evidence to explain to Rivers people and the world the disappearance of over 70 Billion Naira of our common wealth under his watch which remains unaccounted for”, Livinstone Wechie said in a statement on Friday.

“Whilst we encourage him to go ahead to file a million more suits, he should be reminded that this so-called suit does not put a block on the mysterious fifteen storey Karibi Whyte Hospital, it does not bring back over sixty Billion Naira power plant proceed which disappeared after the secret sale by him, neither does it recover over 35 Billion Naira wasted on the failed monorail project among others.

“As a matter of urgent national importance, both moral and legal obligation, We strongly urge Mr President,  and the relevant Agencies not to be distracted in their investigation of ROTIMI Amaechi but remain proactive, as his intendment is to create a blanket innocence for himself through this mischievous suit and the other frivolous one filed by his conduit-pipe 25a Trans-Amadi companies just to give the misleading diversionary impression that the issues are now before a Court… No! We have gone past that stage.

“Thus we maintain that our evidence and facts on these allegations remain alive and incontrovertible”.

a thief must return all the loot and also go to jail. Amaech should appear before the court and clear his name of the tens of billions stolen fron the treasury.
