Residents of Kuchingoro and Kabusa in the Abuja Municpal Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Monday benefited from a one-week free medical health care offered by Dr. Omanudhowho Kennedy, an NYSC member serving in the FCT.

The project, which was part of his personal Community Development Service Project of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), included free medical, surgical, dental and optometry treatments as well as free drugs to over 500 people.

Omanudhowho, who had earlier donated 56 simplified wheelchairs to the physically challenged persons in the community in the first phase of the programme, said the  project was based on love and compassion for the less privileged and other challenged persons he  developed years back as a student.

He said although achieving the feat has been stressful, the success story could not have been possible without the support of the SURE-P health centre, the Area Council, the NYSC management and other stakeholders. The corps member expressed optimism that both communities would benefit immensely from the project.

Flagging off the free medicare, NYSC Director General, Brig. Gen. Johnson Olawumi, said the project is in line with his vision to address the health challenges faced by the rural populace across the country using the services of corps medical personnel.
