Lagos – –Maurice Cooreman, the hitherto suspended Akwa United coach, has promised to be loyal to his employers and abide by the rules of the game to keep his job after six weeks suspension from the technical bench.

Uwem Ekoh, the clubs spokesman, in a chat with the press, said that the Belgian who has handled a couple of Nigerian elite clubs with strings of success, resumed training with the team on Monday evening in Uyo.

“I want to confirm to you that our head coach, Maurice Cooreman, is back in charge of the team after the expiration of his suspension. He was around on Monday evening to handle the training session and has been conducting it ever since,” Ekoh said.

He revealed further that prior to Cooreman’s return, the Paul Bassey-led management had issued a stern warning that he must learn to work with his assistant coaches as a caveat for him to keep his job.

Against this backdrop, the former Enyimba of Aba handler has assured the club’s management of a harmonious working relationship.

Ekoh thus said, “We decided to train on Monday evening just a day after our home match against El Kanemi Warriors because we do not have much time on our hands.

“We want to keep focus and striving to maintain our form. Cooreman has promised to work with other assistant coaches.”

In retrospect, Cooreman who has won two FA Cup and NPFL titles for Enyimba, the defunct Ocean boys of Yenagoa as well as Kaduna United, was initially suspended for a month but management inexplicably extended it by two weeks.

Akwa are presently sixth on the league table with 32 points from 22 matches and will dare Heartland of Owerri this weekend at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in one of the Week 23 fixtures.
