Tragedy was averted during the Miss Constituency Delta Beauty Pageant 2016 held recently at Orchid Hotel, Asaba as one of the contestants slumped during the cultural display segment of the competition.
Unknown to the audience, the delay in the appearance of the contestants was due to an earlier incident when she fainted behind the stage but was revived and encouraged to continue with the competition.
But the second episode ensured that she had no further involvement in the competition while other contestants carried on with their acts.
Friends and family members were seen frantically making efforts to revive her, while lamenting the non provision for first aid or medical attention for such eventualities.
One of them was heard complaining that the contestant who hails from Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State should have been dropped the first time she fainted as there was one other candidate from the same local government area.
However, the lawmaker representing Ika South Local Government Area in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Festus Okoh had caused a stir in the early stages of the competition when he insisted that the two contestants from his local government must go ahead with the competition
