Imam of Yahya Garba Al-Yolawi Area 10 Juma’at Mosque, Abuja, has admonished Muslim faithful to always show gratitude to Allah for His numerous blessings on them.

Al-Yolawi made the call while delivering a Friday sermon in Abuja entitled, `Benefits of Shukr (showing gratitude) to Allah (SWT)’.

According to him, gratitude simply means “reciprocating kindness and giving praise to the one who has done good and kind things to you”.

“The One who is most deserving of thanks and praises from human beings, particularly Nigerians is Allah.

“Nigerians should be grateful to Allah because of the great favours and blessing that He bestows upon them spiritually, socially and politically at this trying moment.

“Allah (SWT) commands us to give thanks and gratitude to Him for His  blessings, and promises to increase His mercy to whomever is grateful to Him,’’ he said.

Al-Yolawi quoted Qur’an Chapter 14 Verse 8 as saying: “And remember when your Lord proclaimed, if you are grateful, I will surely increase you in favour.

“But if you deny indeed My punishment is severe.’’

The cleric, however, urged Muslims to remember the promise stated in the Qur’an and be grateful to Allah at all times for His bounties and never be ungrateful to Him to escape  incurring His wrath.
