Chika Chukwumerije Sports Foundation (CCSF) has graduated ninetaekwondo athletes  from white to yellow belt after a practical and theoretical test in Abuja.

The athletes, two females and five males distinguished themselves in the grade test, with the least person scoring 75 points, while the highest scored 93 points.

CCSF founder, Chika Chukwumerije, said that with the upgrade, the athletes were on course to becoming world champions.

“In my years of taekwondo experience, I have realised that the most challenging period in taekwondo lies in the white, yellow and blue belt; they are very key in the lives of any taekwondo athletes.

“Once you can get these first three belts right, you  are a champion in the making.”

He said that the athletes were not graded with the curriculum that had been  in use in the past 40 years considering that a lot had changed in the game which he said warranted the foundation to put so many things together, pointing out that the athletes were combining the sport and their education.

“What they learnt now is what those in brown or a red belt will learn, so we have simplified it to their level and we have exposed them to a wild range of techniques.

The male athletes include Dickson Adoga, who scored the best grade. Other are Peter Itiku, Precious Benson, Ebuka Diala, Ebuka Obodo, Daniel Ibrahim and Joseph Awolope, while the female athletes are Joy Ikpeamaeze and Bukola Ogunnusi.
