Chisom Chikatara, former Abia Warriors forward, who finally joined Moroccan side, Wydad Casablanca after a protracted transfer deal, will likely play in Wydad’s CAF Champions League home tie against Egyptian giants, Al Ahly on Wednesday.

The player was a subject of intense transfer squabble between Wydad and Abia Warriors, leading to the Nigerian club severally denying any deal with the former African champions.

The deal was, however, finally brokered after Wydad settled all financial details and the player was unveiled last week. And against the nine-time African champions on Wednesday, a Wydad source revealed that since Chikatara is not cup-tied, he will likely play in the match.

The source said that since Martin Jol, Al-Ahly coach will be fielding new signing from Ismaily, Marwan Morsen, Chikatara will likely start for the Moroccan champions.

“Chikatara will likely play on Wednesday because he is not cup-tie. He is eligible to play against Al-Ahly on Wednesday. Besides, Jol will be fielding one player, Marwan Morsen, he signed from Ismaily, so we will also play our own Chikatara,” he said.
