As part of preparation for Saturday, April 11, 2015 Governorship and House of Assembly elections, the Akwa-Ibom State Electoral Commission has taken delivery of sensitive election materials in the custody of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Speaking after receiving the election materials in Uyo on Tuesday, the Resident Electoral Commissioner MrAustin Okojie expressed the readiness of the commission in the State for the Governorship and House of Assembly elections.

The materials include ballot papers, Forms EC8A, EC8B, EC8C, EC8D and EC8D. Okojie said the materials would be sorted out before being distributed to the Registration Area Centres-RACs and Super-RACs where they would be dispatched to the respective wards and polling units.

He explained that the reason the materials would be dispatched early, was to ensure their timely and prompt arrival at the polling units for early commencement of accreditation and actual voting.

Daily Independent gathered that the REC would hold an extraordinary meeting with Presiding Officers and Electoral Officers where an appraisal of the Presidential and National Assembly elections would be made.
