The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to deal decisively with the suspected Fulani herdsmen that invaded a community in Enugu State Monday and killed at least 20 people, with properties razed or demolished in the process.

Rev. Yakubu Pam, chairman of CAN in the region, in an interview shortly after the inauguration of the new executive of the association headed by Rev Echioda, in Niger State, said  that only decisive action by the Federal Government would curb the ongoing impunity by Fulani herdsmen nationwide.

Pam told journalists at the Presbyterian Church, David Mark Road, Minna, that perpetrators of the mayhem are taking Nigerians for a ride by their penchant for invading communities and reckless killing of innocent citizens.

Pam said, “I think the only way to finding lasting solution to the constant Fulani herdsmen and farmers’ clash is for the Federal Government to fish out and deal with the perpetrators to serve as deterrent to others.

“What would solve this needless killings by Fulani herdsmen in parts of the country is a courageous leader who would come out boldly not only to condemn it politically but to ensure that he puts steps on the ground to resolve this ugly development once and for all so that there can be lasting peace in the country.

“I know Buhari to be a courageous leader who can do that.”
