LAGOS – Kano Pillars will have to prove that its 6-0 hammering of Shooting Stars in Kano last Sunday is no fluke when it plays Sunshine Stars in Akure on Sunday. The week 13 match in Akure is also another opportunity for Sunshine Stars to equally prove that beating Nasarawa United 3-0 on Wednesday in a reschedule league match means that it has overcome its suspect form that was the Akure based side hallmark at the beginning of the season. Pillars’ record in the season is six wins, three draw and three losses. It is fourth on the table with 21 points. According to Idris Malikawa, Kano Pillars’ media officer, the former champion is out to reclaim the title from Enyimba, adding that every match was a winnable one to the players, the fans and the management. “One thing at the back of our mind is to win the league. That is not to say we underrate other sides, especially as Rangers is top of the league,” he said. “We are not concentrating on the Sunshine match alone; every match, to average Pillars’ fan, players and the management, is winnable so we approach every game with that mentality,” he said. But Wahab Bankole, Sunshine Media Officer, said that Sunshine Stars will play well, insisting that Pillars cannot intimidate them.  “We are not going to be intimidated by what Pillars did to 3SC; our aim is to consolidate on our result against Nasarawa.  “You know we had it rough initially but we are gradually picking up and we are not ready to fall from this steady rise,” he said. The match comes up 4pm at the Akure stadium.
