Can Ikorodu Revive Dwindling Fortune At Tornadoes?

This is one question supporters of Ikorodu United will be asking as the Lagos-based side travels to Lokoja to engage resurgent Niger Tornadoes of Minna.

Ikorodu United has been the shadow of the side that gained promotion at the end of last season after a scintillating play-off against Ekiti United where the Lagos side won 1-0.

Since the beginning of the current league campaign, Ikorodu United has won only once. It has, however, drawn three times while losing seven times. This is in sharp contrast to neighbours, MFM, who has seemingly equipped itself well for survival at the end of the current season.

Tornadoes, on the other hand, is sitting on 17th place on the log, having garnered 11 points from 11 matches. The side is desperate to move out of the relegation zone, which will make it difficult for United in the encounter.

Speaking to Independent, Coach of United, Sam Okpodu, said he is optimistic his side will escape the drop at the end of the season.

“I am very sure that Ikorodu United will not go down; we may be passing through challenges but that is not the end of the road for us,” he said.

It is obvious that Ikorodu United has seen the going tough at the Onikan Water Front, its home.
