Lagos – Cameroon Indomitable Lioness reached their third Africa Women’s Nations Cup (AWCON) final on Wednesday following their 1-0 defeat of Ghana Black Queens in the first semi-final.

They will play Super Falcons of Nigeria in the Saturday championship game. Nigeria, record seven-time winner, will play their eight final following their 1-0 defeat of South Africa also on Wednesday in the tournament’s second semi-final.

However, Enow Ngachu, Cameroon coach, only mission is winning the trophy for the time on home soil.
After qualifying for the final, he said, “Our goal is to win five matches. We have done four and there is only one remaining. In 2014, we were also in the final and it would make sense for us to win the trophy this year.

“I’ve already lost two finals and I hope to win this time,” he said, adding that he was proud of the performances of his players.
He said that despite not being a high scoring side, he was pleased with his players, noting that, “The results of our matches are always narrow and very competitive. We also play according to the opponent’s strength and this is what guides the changes that are made.

“Today this was a conclusive test. We will continue to work so that our players manage this situation at best. Today, the difference is in the physical impact, the mind and the desire to win.”
