Lagos – Paul Aigbogun, the chief coach of Enyimba of Aba, has expressed optimism ahead of their CAF Champions League group match against Zamalek of Egypt, saying Enyimba would leave nothing to chance on Sunday.
Enyimba will play Zamalek in the opening match of Group B of this year’s CAF Champions League, with the Nigerian champions entering the encounter on the string of poor domestic form in their last four league matches.
Speaking to Independent, the coach said much as they acknowledged the records of their opponents in the competition, Enyimba would not disappoint their fans.
“We are not going to leave anything to chance on Sunday because we know what Zamalek can do on their good day. I am also not in doubt over what Enyimba can do so it is going to be a massive match.
“But I will assure Nigerians that we are working hard for this match and will not disappoint them. We are going to represent Nigeria well and hope to start the group stage with a win,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Helmy, coach of Zamalek, has insisted that Enyimba was beatable at home. Speaking to Egyptian journalists on Tuesday, Helmy said that they would be going to Nigeria with the aim of picking a good result.
“Enyimba will be difficult at home, but I know they can still be beaten. That is the mindset we are going to Nigeria with.”
The Egyptians are expected in Nigeria on Friday for the match, which comes up on Sunday.
