It also saw off Kano Pillars in the first round of the 2013 CAF Champions League on away goal rule, 4-4 aggregate, winning 3-0 at home and losing 4-1 in Kano.

AC Leopards, one of the eight teams dropped down to the Confederation Cup from Champions League, won the 2012 CAF Confederation Cup, beating Djouliba of Mali 4-3 aggregate. The team won 2-1 at home and drew 2-2 in Mali.

Meanwhile, Warri Wolves Managing Director, Davidson Owumi, has no doubts Wolveswould qualify for the group phase of the competition.

“We are sure of qualifying for the group stage and that is our dream,” he said.

“Our God who has helped us this far will not disappoint us and with Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan behind us like he has been doing, we will scale through.

“We will have to double our effort this time around and we know we will get there.”

Coach Paul Aigbogun knows his side will have to play well to beat Leopards, but is not concerned as he believes the team is prepared to beat any team in the competition.
