Buhari’s Administration Has Scored A Very High Mark – Gambari

A former Minister of External Affairs, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari has said President Muhammadu Buhari has scored a very high mark so far especially in the areas of fighting corruption and provision of security.
Gambari, who also served as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations between 1990 and 1999 however said the Buhari administration met a very bad situation when it took over from the Goodluck Jonathan administration in 1999.

While urging Nigerians to cooperate with the administration,  Gambari said it is wrong for some people to say they have not seen the direction the present government is heading after almost two years in office.
“Change has many dimensions. There is a change that is required by the government. There is a change required in the attitude of the people of Nigeria and there is a change in the economic sphere of the country”.
“There is a change that has to be coordinated with the national institutions in our country – such as the civil service and the judiciary.  I think one year in an administration is a calendar milestone. What the people of Nigeria should know is that the administration met a very bad situation but they are in charge now”.
“The government should therefore let the people know too the direction they are going. They should come up with priorities and seek the support and cooperation of the people”.
“It is easy to complain. It is easy to demand solutions within a year but I think the important thing to do is to look at the direction which the country is going to see whether it is the right one. A situation whereby some people are still saying that they cannot see the direction, in which this administration is going, after one year, is wrong”
“We know that without peace, you cannot have development and freedom of movement. Security is a key dimension of the wellbeing of this country and on this, I think it is fair to say that the administration has scored a very high mark” he said.
