Buhari In Ghana For Talks On Security, Trade

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, September 7, 2015, arrived Accra, Ghana, for a one-day “Friendship Visit” that will involve bilateral talks with his ?Ghanaian counterpart, John Dramani Mahama.

Buhari, whose Eagle One presidential jet touched down at the Kokota International ?Airport at exactly 9:50 a.m. local time, was received by Mahama along with senior Nigerian diplomats and Ghanaian government officials.

After inspecting a guard of honour mounted by the Ghanaian Air Force, and entertainment by a Ghanaian traditional dance troupe, Buhari, dressed in light blue ‘babanriga’, was accompanied by his host to a state luncheon.

Talks between Buhari and Mahama are scheduled to hold at Peduase Lodge in Aburi, where the historic Nigeria-Biafra Accord was signed in 1967, and will dwell on bilateral relations, regional security, trade and other issues of common interest to Nigeria and Ghana.

The talks will also be of interest to other member-nations of the Economic Community of West African States.

Buhari was accompanied to Accra by the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, and the permanent secretaries in the Federal Ministries of Foreign Affairs; Defence; Justice; and Industry, Trade and Investment.

The President is also expected to meet with members of the Nigerian community and entrepreneurs in Ghana before returning to Abuja later today.
