Buhari Condemns Kano Blasphemy Killing, Pleads For Calm

President Muhammadu Buhari has spoken on the recent brutal killing of a woman in Kano State on allegations of blasphemy against Islam.

The President said on Saturday that the law would be visited on the perpetrators of the murder of Mrs. Bridget Agbahime, a market woman, during the week.

Buhari, through a statement by Mr Femi Adesina, his spokesman, said: “The incident at Kofar Wambai market, Kano city, is utterly condemnable, and the state government has been quite proactive.

“Let us ensure that we keep the peace, as justice will be done. Let us learn to respect each other’s faith, so that we can know each other and live together in peace.”

Buhari also urged the populace to keep calm and allow the law take its course, as the prime suspect in the murder has been arrested.

He noted that the incident should not be used to cause further discord on religious and ethnic basis, even as he commiserated with the husband of the deceased, Pastor Mike Agbahime, and his family and relations, praying for God’s consolation to enable them bear the loss.
