The Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are to collaborate for effective fight against financial crimes.
Mr. Vincent Onome Akpotaire, the acting Director General of BPE, disclosed this in Abuja when he paid a courtesy visit to the EFCC on Thursday.
Akpotaire said the collaboration would strengthen the standards of integrity and transparency in the reforms and privatisation transactions of both the National Council on Privatisation (NCP) and the Bureau.
Akpotaire, who commended the efforts of the anti-graft agency in managing issues of financial crimes also expressed strong resolve to support the commission.
He said the prevalence of financial crimes across the world explains the urgency and necessity for the relationship between both agencies, and need to strengthen the relationship to engender seamless transactions.
The BPE DG, said the continuity in seamless interface between the two agencies in the course of the Bureau’s transactions had been of immense benefit.
He therefore attributed the success recorded in the power privatisation transaction to collaboration with the anti-graft agency, whereby high standards of transparency was maintained.
To ensure that the EFCC plays a proper oversight function on the activities of the BPE from beginning to the final stage of transactions, he sought for the establishment of a desk officer from the EFCC in BPE.
