…Kills 18, Injures 15 *Terrorist Commander Nabbed by Police

Yola – Kuda-Kaya village in Madagalli Local Government Area of Adamawa State was on Thursday thrown into pandemonium as dreaded Islamic sect,  Boko Haram launched attack there killing people 18 people and injuring 15 others.

Reports from the village located about 3 km from Gulak, the Headquarters of Madagalli Local Government Area have it that the insurgents on Thursday evening launched an unexpected attack on the civilians, and mauled men and women down in gruesome manner.

Madagali Local Government Area is on the fringes of the dreaded Sambisa forest .
Independent gathered that the insurgents stormed the village around 10 p.m in the night while the villagers were observing funeral night in honour of a dead member in the community.

An eye witness who does not want his name in print told our correspondent that the Boko Haram took the villagers by surprise as members of the community never envisaged such attacks following a lull in the activities of the insurgents in recent time.

“They stormed our village on motorbikes and immediately opened fire on the people observing the vigil night”, he lamented.

According to the eyewitness, as at the last count, no fewer than 18 people were killed while over 15 others were injured and were rushed to a nearby clinic in Gulak. Nobody he added can ascertain the present condition of their health, he said.

Confirming the killing, the member representing Michika/Madagali Federal Constituency, Adamu Kamale in a telephone interview said the number of casualties as at the time of filing this report could not be ascertained but noted that many members of the community were feared killed.

Also, the Public Relations Officer of the Adamawa State Police Command, DSP Othman Abubakar, said “some 18 people have been reported killed in the attack but the number of the casualties could not be ascertained.”
In a similar development, the police is said to have arrested a wanted Boko Haram commander in Gombi Local Government of Adamawa State on Wednesday.

The suspected commander was allegedly sighted by a policeman at a security checkpoint who instantly recognized him as one of the wanted Boko Haram commanders in the Military’s wanted list.

The policeman was said to have removed his uniform and started trailing the suspected Boko Haram terrorist who went to a bank in Gombi area in an attempt to withdraw money from the bank.

An eyewitness account said the terrorist who pretended to be a deaf to avoid being captured by the security camera of the ATM machine asked a waiting customer to help him withdraw from the ATM machine which further aroused the curiosity of the policeman who mobilized the bank’s security details to arrest the suspect.

Also confirming the arrest, the DSP Abubakar said the suspect was being interrogated at the commands CID.
He said the suspect was one of the terrorists on the wanted list of hardened terrorist group displayed by the military authorities.
