Bishop Okonkwo Education Foundation Rewards Schools

Three secondary schools and five students in Ikorodu Local Government Council Area have emerged winners of Bishop Mike Okonkwo Education Award.

The award for the most outstanding secondary school is sponsored by the General Overseer, The Redeemed Evangel Mission (TREM),Bishop Mike Okonkwo and endowed in conjunction with Rhoda Youth Award, Ikorodu.

Schools that emerged winners are; Elepe Community High School, Elepe, Lagos State Senior Model College, Igbokuta, and Keme Balogun Model College, Owode, Ibeshe all in Ikorodu.

The five students with the best West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) result also received prizes for their exceptional performance. They include; Bakare Abdulrashid Oladeji, Agono Grace Ojone, and Amodu Abubakar Ugbedeojo all of Kith and Kin International College, Owode, Ikorodu.

Others include; Adebanjo Ayomikun Justus of First Citizens College, and Iloka Kenechi Catherine, Inglewood Academy, Owutu, also in Ikorodu.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Bishop Okonkwo who had earlier commissioned a water project constructed by the Liberty Centre of the church for Oke-Orinya Community, urged churches to make community projects as part of their evangelism.

Okonkwo further stated that the provision of water project by the church was an indication that it had the interest of the host community at heart and enjoined the people of the community to make judicious use of the water project.

He said, “The Church should be in the vanguard of making positive impact on its host communities.”
