‘Big Men Frustrating Investigation Into My Husband’s Death’

A WIDOW, Mrs Maria Onianwa, has made a passionate appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari, Chief Justice of the Federation and security agents to ensure that some powerful individuals in Delta State do not scuttle investigation into the murder of her husband.

Her husband, Emeka Onianwa was allegedly killed at the home of Chief Fred Ajudua whose wife, Hon Pat Ajudua, is a lawmaker representing Oshimili North Constituency on April 15, 2015.

A former Transition Chairman of Oshimili North Local Council of Delta State and others were reportedly arrested and detained in connection with the death of the victim but were later released.

“Just on 8th July, 2015, the accused was released from prison custody, Owashi Uku following a directive from a top politician in the state because he is a member of  a political party without recourse to the order given by a court of competent.  She said life had become unbearable and coping with an aged visually impaired father in law, her children that have been sent out of school and two months old baby; she delivered after the death of her husband were traumatic. According to her, those accused of killing her husband have refused to honour police invitation.

Apart from their initial statements at the police, she said, they kept boasting that the matter would not see the light of the day.
