The tide, it seems, has become turbulent for member, Benue State House of Assembly (BSHA) representing Obi constituency, Nick Eworo, over claims that he had defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He is faced with the dilemma of rejection by the APC, just as the PDP has said it is suing him over allegations that he forged the letter purportedly  claiming he was expelled from the party.

Sources told Daily Independent that the PDP, which has denied expelling the lawmaker is seeking to be availed the letter in which Eworo claimed he was expelled.

Eworo had, in a letter to the assembly read by the Speaker, Terkimbi Ikyange last Thursday declared that he had defected from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.

In twist of event, the APC had come out to disown him, subsequently banning him from seeking membership of the party until the suit against him by the party at the Legislative Houses Elections Petition Tribunal is thrashed out.

In a statement issued to newsman over the weekend, the Obi Local Government Area (LGA) chairman of the APC, David Ida, stated that the party would not accept the membership of Eworo.

He said, “We have a pending suit at the Tribunal challenging the election of Mr. Eworo so he should remain in his party (PDP) until the matter is adjudicated upon. Moreover, his purported defection from the PDP to our party, the APC, did not follow due process.

“It is on this basis that we are calling on the state and national secretariats of our great party (APC) to disregard the purported defection of Mr. Eworo from the PDP to APC.”

Further details obtained by Daily Independent reveal that the PDP at the state level is also planning to unleash venom on the lawmaker over the allegations.
