Bayelsa State government has restated its readiness to partner with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and donor agencies which have emphasis on provision of data, funds and facilities that promote quality healthcare.

Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Esueme Dan-Kikile, said this at the weekend when a team of an NGO, Targeted State High Impact Project (TSHIP), paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Yenagoa.

He observed that a lot still needed to be done in the health sector, especially in the area of primary healthcare, to reduce infant and maternal mortality rates in the state. wKikile said the state government would do everything within its limit to save the lives of children and pregnant mothers whom he said are the most vulnerable groups in the society.

He said his ministry would liaise with the Ministry of Health in the strategic distribution of drugs and dissemination of information on the availability of drugs.

He said the two ministries would collaborate to carry out public enlightenment to sensitise the people of the state on the efficacy of Misoclear and Chlorhexidine Gel, two medications promoted by the Federal Ministry of Health and Save the Children Foundation to reduce infant and maternal mortality.
