A founding member of the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa State, Perekeme Kpodo, has urged the party’s National Working Committee to disqualify former Governor Timipre Sylva from further participation in the primary for the governorship ticket of the party.

He said that since the APC had rejected Sylva’s emergence as its flag bearer because he held a member of the electoral committee hostage to declare him winner of the “Tuesday’s kangaroo primary in Yenagoa”, it was only logical that he was disqualified from running for the governorship ticket.

Kpodo told newsmen in Yenagoa on Friday that the report on the exercise submitted by the chairman of the seven-member electoral committee and Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, was an indictment on Sylva.

He described the primary as a total sham, stressing that Sylva through his manipulation, intimidation of aspirants and use of thugs, exhibited his true character.

Kpodo, a former chairman of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), said it was such character Sylva displayed while he ruled the state, insisting that he was a bad product for the APC.

Kpodo said, “As one of the founders of the APC in Bayelsa State, I think the national leadership of the party should disqualify Timipre Sylva for his insubordination because all amount to criminalities against the party’s constitution and guidelines.

“So, we are calling on the national leadership of our great party to take action to sanction Sylva for manipulating the process and intimidation of fellow delegates delegates and electoral officers lead by Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole.

“This is because we do not see any reason why a leader of the party could hold a serving governor hostage and if Oshiomhole was not not an activist, the man would have succumbed to their ‘evil machination’.

“ But Oshiomhole maintained his cool, calculated and was able to wriggle out of the problem. He even told Sylva that he could not do him anything.

“And we thank God we have a vibrant DSS director who rescued Oshiomhole from the Sylva thugs. He is supposed to be disqualified. The guideline said if you have a criminal case in court, you cannot contest. Is corruption case not a criminal case? It is stealing of people’s money… He stole Bayelsa people’s money? He was charged, still, the party still allowed him to contest the primary. This is totally wrong.
