Governor Seriake Dickson’s former Senior Special Assistant on Inter-party Affairs, Ebikibina  Miriki, has asserted that  the crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Bayelsa State was expected.

He made the assertion at the weekend while speaking with newsmen in Yenagoa, the state capital.

Bayelsa APC is currently enmeshed in a controversy  over allegations by the chairman, Tiwei Orunimighe, that the  leader of the party and former governor of the state, Timipre Sylva, was selling chances of federal appointments meant for the state.

But Miriki said that the political quarrel in the APC fold did not take keen political watchers by surprise because it was predictable.

He said that the shoddy manner  members of the party were assembled ahead of the 5 December 2015 governorship election was an indication that things would fall apart, sooner than later, in the party.

Miriki, a former chairman of the Conference of Nigerian Political Party (CNPP), said that the APC had lured some of its members with money and promises of appointments before and during the poll.

He described the APC as an unpopular party, stressing that it lacked the political presence, integrity and quality leadership and following to carry out meaningful opposition in Bayelsa.
