A political associate of Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, Ebitimi Amgbare, has resigned from his position as the general manager of the Bayelsa State Transport Company.

Amgbare, Dickson’s kinsman, from Sagbama Local Government Area, said his resignation was to take effect from Friday, July 31, 2015.

He conveyed his decision to quit the position through a letter to the governor, through the office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

Amgbare thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve in his former capacity, but he did not give reasons for his resignation.

Amgbare was the governorship candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the 2007 governorship election in the state.

He lost the contest to the Peoples Democratic Party candidate in the election, Timipre Sylva.

It was not clear at press time on Friday if Amgbare resigned his position to participate in the December 5, 2015, governorship election in the state on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

There were insinuations, however, that he was among top politicians from Bayelsa West Senatorial District that would be defecting to the APC in the weeks ahead.
