As the countdown to the governorship election in Bayelsa State begins, wife of Governor Seriake Dickson, Rachael, has presented the sum of N15million to the Swali Ultra Modern Market Association in Yenagoa, the state capital.

She made the presentation at a brief ceremony at the market on Wednesday.

The governor’s wife also shared the sum of N50, 000 each to 15 traders at the market.

Dickson’s largess to the Swali traders came barely two weeks after the

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) fixed December 5 for the governorship poll.

Addressing the traders at the association’s office in the market, she said the donation of the N15m was a redemption of the governor’s earlier promise to them.

She said her husband had promised to give the traders the money to support their businesses.

Rachael, who was accompanied by a retinue of government officials including the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Kemela Okara, urged the traders to ‘reciprocate’ the governor’s gesture in due course.

The excited traders thanked her for extending a hand of fellowship to them, adding that they would give their maximum support to Governor Dickson when the need arises.
