Bauchi First Lady Presents Gift To First Baby Of The Year, Other Women In Bauchi

The First Lady  of Bauchi State Hajia Hadiza Abubakar  on Friday presented a special gift to the first baby girl born in the state and other women.

The baby was born at 3.45am on 1st of January 2016 at Specialist Hospital Bauchi by Zuwaira Adamu who has promised to name the baby after the First Lady as Hadiza.

The baby who weigh  2.6kg will now be known as Hadiza Adamu according to Zuwaira who Was overwhelmed by the visit of the Governor’s wife as well as the gift presented to her and the baby.

Zuwaira said ” I am so happy and appreciate the honour bestow on me and my baby by the First Lady because this is the first time we are experiencing such gesture and I pray that God will bless the First Lady and his family.

“We  shall name the baby, Hadiza so that my family forever remember and appreciate the love she showed to us. I will forever remember January 1, 2016 which was the day i had opportunity  to meet with the governor’s wife and interact with her because I have never had such opportunity in my life.

Presenting the gifts to the baby as well as other women at the female ward of the  at Specialist Hospital Bauchi, Hajia Abubbakar  said she was in the hospital to congratulate and rejoice with them as well as to wish them happy new year.

The Governor’s wife said her visit was a way of complementing the present administration effort in alleviating the suffering of women in the state.

She thereby reiterated the determination of the state government to provide quality health care for the citizens especially mothers and children.

She assured that women and under 5 children will be given free medical services in line with five health point agenda of Governor Mohammed Abubakar’s administration.

Meanwhile the Governor’s wife  Hadiza Mohammed Abubakar has charged media practitioners to educate and sensitize the citizens for them to take right and informed decisions.

Speaking during an interactive session with the state media executives at Bauchi Government House to mark end of the year celebration,, Hajia Abubakar said media equally has the role of informing the public about issues as they relate to policies of government, for harmony and good working relationship.

She explained that the media has the responsibility to inform and work in the best interest of the public, stressing that it only when the public are well informed that they will be able to contribute their quota in governance.

Hajiya Hadiza Abubakar said the media also has the role of challenging policies of government that it feels are not perfect with a view to drawing the attention of government to get things right.

“It is therefore necessary for freedom of expression so that different shades of opinions would be heard for the betterment of the generality of people”.

The Governor’s wife said her personal commitment to the cause of women, children and the vulnerable is a complimentary effort to the commitment of her husband in his pursue to improve the living standard of the people of the state.

“For that I will like to intimate you that I have initiated an NGO called Bauchi Sustainable Women Economic Empowerment and Peace Initiative for the sole purpose of supporting government to achieve the desired objective of bringing improvement to the living standard of the people of the state”.

Hadiza Mohammed Abubakar solicited the understanding, support, cooperation and collaboration of the media as stakeholders in the country as well as put all hands on deck to bring peace, progress and prosperity in Bauchi state.
