Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abubakar, has reiterated the determination of the All Progressive Congress (APC) led administration in the state to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption crusade for the development of the country.

The Governor gave the assurance Thursday, while addressing workers during a solidarity rally organized by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in support of Buhari’s anti corruption crusade at Government House Bauchi.

Represented by his Deputy, Engineer Nuhu Gidado, he  lamented that the country has been dwarfed of its true potentials because of greed  by  some corrupt leaders, who have been in power in the last 16 years.

Abubakar said:  “Our communities have been left without basic and essential services due to the fact that our past leaders wrongfully took more for themselves than they gave to the rightful owners”.

“Our present has been darkened by organized and unwholesome abuse of process, powers, laws and public resources. Our future has been made to vanish due to incalculable conversion of our common wealth to private use.”

Abubakar however expressed optimism that the disposition and body language of the Buhari-led administration on the war against corruption since assumption of office has given hope to Nigerians that cankerworm of corruption, which has held the country down for decades can be defeated.

“The administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has left no one in doubt of the will to tackle corruption as one of its core areas of focus. Our great party the APC has also made it a priority to institutionalize transparency and accountability while weeding out the ingrained culture of corruption”

He thereby assured that his administration is determined to install a system of governance devoid of the ills of corruption. According to Abubakar, the present administration has taken steps to recover resources of government carted away by individuals that have previously held offices.

“These efforts have led to a huge recovery of some of the stolen funds, which is second to none so far in this country. This is indeed in line with our campaign promises and in alignment with the expectations of the generality of the people.

“I proudly say in clear and ambiguous manner that the Bauchi State Government and the people of Bauchi State also stand firmly with the president and other well meaning Nigerians to kill corruption before it kills Nigeria” Earlier,, the state NLC Chairman, Com Hashimu Mohammed Gital, explained that the national rally by the Nigeria Workers was in support of the good works started by the President and his current crusade against corruption.

Represented by the Vice-Chairman, Danjuma Saleh, he expressed displeasure over plans by some unpatriotic Nigerians, who are trying to sabotage and discourage the president from going on with his fight against corruption.

Gital assured that Nigerian workers will resist any attempt from any quarter to scuttle the president’s stance against corruption and impunity.

His words: “There is no gain saying the fact that corruption has been the bane of our underdevelopment as a nation. It’s unfortunate that Nigerian workers and the common man largely depend on less than one dollar a day”.

He thereby urged the President to remain focus and never be distracted on his current crusade against corruption assuring that Nigeria worker are strongly behind you.
