Bauchi Assembly To Allocate 15% Budget To Health Sector

Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Alhaji  Shehu Damina, has expressed the determination of the 8th Assembly to ensure 15 per cent budgetary allocation to the health sector.

Damina stated this while speaking at the USAID/TSHIP dissemination in Bauchi.

He said the 15 per cent allocation will be implemented to ensure quality health services to Bauchi citizens.

“I want to assure you that under our leadership there will be changes in the health sector that will impact positively on the health status of our people.”

He assured that the 8th Assembly will formulate policy that will ensure that health issues of women and children were given adequate attention in order to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity rate in the state.

“We will ensure that mothers and under 5 year old children enjoys free health care services in all the 20 LGAs of the state,” he said.

Dammina commended USAID/TSHIP for its health interventions in the assuring state government commitment to partner with NGO’s and donor agencies in providing quality health care to the people.

The occasion has in attendance by the USAID Mission Director, the Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Nuhu Gidada, senior traditional and religious leaders, heads of the health sector in the state and other development partners, communities and beneficiaries.
