Residents of Oko-Afo, Ilogbo, Agunmo and Iyesi in the Badagry Local Government Area of Lagos State have decried the deplorable state of Oko-Afo/Ilogbo road.

Some of the residents told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Badagry that the deplorable state of the road which connects the communities has adversely affected socio-economic activities in the area. Mrs Teju Adamu, who deals in clothing materials in the area, said that the poor state of the road was negatively affecting her business.

“When the road was in good condition, my business fared better as sale was on the high side, but in the past few years when the road deteriorated, my business has not fared well.

“Customers shun this area because of the stress they go through, and to be honest, if I were in their shoes, I also would not come here because of the terrible state of the road,” she said.

Mr Tunji Ajose, a barber in the area, expressed similar views, saying the condition of the road has affected patronage. “Back in those days, I get up to 15 customers a day, but in the last few years, it is a miracle if I get up to four customers in two days.

“The road discourages people from coming here and the government needs to do something about it urgently,” he said.

Mr Zacharia Agboola, a community leader in Ipaara, said contract for the rehabilitation of the road, awarded to Faizah Golden Venture, was expected to last 10 months.
