Aviation agencies workers yesterday deserted their offices at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA) Lagos over alleged fears that there may be crisis after the declaration of the presidential election result.

This is just as the passenger traffic at the domestic terminals nose dives.

Daily Independent observed that as early as 12 noon some of the offices were already empty while those still in the various offices were about to leave.

It was not clear if a directive was given to that effect, but one of the agency workers told our correspondent it might not be unconnected with the  fear of possible crisis that could erupt after the declaration of the winner of presidential election  by the Independent National Electoral  Commission(INEC)

At the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB), a source hinted our correspondent that workers were allegedly directed to close early to avoid the perceived crisis after INEC declares the winner of the election.

The situation was not different at the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), as most of the workers had closed for fear of crisis.

The imaginary crisis may have also affected the volume of traffic at both the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) also known as terminal and the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal (MMA2),Lagos, as the traffic at the terminals has reduced.

At GAT, where Arik Air seems to enjoy monopoly of passenger traffic, the counters were empty, to the extent that the car hire operators were complaining.

At MMA2, apart from Aero Airline counters where there were few passengers, other airline counters were virtually empty compared to prior to the elections period.
