It was all colourful and splendid when House of Inspiration International Ministry (HIIM) held its fourth year anniversary and convention last Saturday at the church auditorium located around Abigi Close, Berger.
The programme, which lasted for four days, started on Thursday with a community outreach, talkshow and evangelism around Banana Estate, Akiode Berger and its environs.
For the welfare outreach specially organised for residents of Banana Estate, both the young and old in the community gathered for prayers and deliverance, after which relief materials such as food items, drinks, clothes, toiletries, provisions etc were distributed to them.
The next day being Friday, a capacity building workshop was held in the church. There were trainings on soap and cosmetics production as well as drink making.
The afternoon session had Pastor (Mrs.) Faith Usman, the General Overseer of Daughters of Light Ministry as the guest minister alongside various presentations.
On Saturday, which was the‘d-day’, a documentary on the journey of the ministry so far was showcased to the delight of the congregation.
Prior to the word ministration, the choir members who were beautifully dressed rendered soul lifting songs renditions. The children were not left out as they also delighted the congregation with their presentation.
During the word ministration, the General Overseer of HIIM, Prophetess (Mrs.) Millicent Chidi hinged her charge on the convention theme: “Tough Times Don’t Last, But Tough People Do”.
Prophetess Chidi noted that the theme was divinely inspired to reassure individuals of the need for them to put their trust in God like never before, as the reality of the economy takes its toll on Nigerians.
“The Lord gave me this theme and He told me He is going to set captives free. When we talk about tough times we are talking about challenges and we know challenges are just for a while.
“The Bible says though it tarries wait for it, it shall surely come to pass. The Lord told me to tell Nigerians especially Christians to look unto Him as the author and the finisher of their faith
“Isaiah 43 verse 2 is the anchor scripture that God gave me. So many people are afraid of life tests, not knowing that without passing these tests, there is no way they can get to the next level. I’m coming from a dungeon, when you talk about challenges, I am one of those that have been faced with challenges,” she stated.
According to her, gold becomes finer when it goes through several processes of refinement. Hence she encouraged individuals to brace up to the challenges as evident in the land.
She urged that Nigerians should come together in love, focus and unity in order to become a formidable force to be reckoned with. She supported her advice with the unity demonstrated amongst those building the tower of Babel before God brought confusion amidst them.
The resident Pastor, Ayodele Akinyoyenu, also asked individuals to keep their faith strong in this ‘famine period’.
His statement: “With the anniversary/convention theme, you will agree with me that it is not a coincidence that this is coming at a time when things seem to be hard.
“So the theme is a word of encouragement to the masses to keep their faith strong in the Lord this period. It is clearly a famine period in the country. I won’t mince words because a bag of rice is no longer the same price it was some months ago.
“The word for the people is that they should not lose faith but keep their faith strong. The time might be tough; the toughness of a person can be more realistic than the toughness of the time.”
Assuring that God surely has a way of providing for His own even in famine, Akinyoyenu tasked the government to take seriously the matter of improving the lives of the masses and not only fighting corruption.
To crown the celebration activities, a thanksgiving service was held on Sunday, where several guests and members joined the pastorate to give glory to God with songs and dancing. In addition to this an anointing/impartation segment was also held with refreshments served afterwards.
