The Nigerian Army on Friday said it has taken back four towns from Boko Haram terrorists in the area.
The towns are Bita, Izge, Yamteke and Uba in Askira Uba and Damboa local government areas of Borno State.
Army spokesman, Col. Sani Usman, said on Friday that troops of the 3 and 7 divisions of the Nigerian Army, supported by the Air Force, liberated the towns from the terrorists on Thursday.
Usman said the operation was in continuation of the push by the Nigerian military to liberate Sambisa forest, a stronghold of the terrorists, in Borno State.
The Army also said it lost a soldier and 10 others were injured in the gunfight, while a large number of the terrorists were killed and various weapons recovered from the locations.
The Army also stated that it was working in collaboration with other security agencies, to safeguard Nigerians anywhere in the country.
