Army Provides Free Medical Services To Boko Haram Victims

The 4 Brigade Command of the Nigerian Army on Friday provided free medical services to over 900 victims of the Boko Haram insurgency currently catered for at an Internally Displaced Persons camp in Uhogua community, Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State. 

Speaking during a visit to the camp on Friday, the brigade Commander, Brigadier-General Faruk Yahaya, explained that the three-day exercise which began on October 1, was informed by the desire of the Chief of Army Staff to ensure that the army impacted positively on its neighbouring communities, in addition to performing it’s constitutional roles.

Yahaya, stated that the medical outreach would, among others, include blood pressure screening, diabetes screening and retreviral infection screening.

He also said that the exercise would enable medical personnel of the command to treat minor injuries and common illnesses in the camp and its environs.

Responding, the coordinator of the camp, Pastor Solomon Folorunsho, described the action of the army as one which would be always be appreciated by IDPs.
