The Nigerian military, on Monday, September 28, 2015, announced the suspension of the ban on vehicles in Borno and Yobe states in the North-East, the hotbed of Boko Haram’s terror campaign.

Military authorities, through the Operation Lafiya Dole, had inposed a ban on vehicle, motorcycle and horses in the area during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations last week, beginning from Wednesday, as a way of forestalling terror attacks by Boko Haram fighters and suicide bombers.

In a statement released on Monday by its spokesman, Deputy Director Army, Public Relations, Col. Tukur Gusau, the Army said: “People can now move freely but should exercise maximum caution and alertness and should promptly report any suspicious individual or movements around them to the nearest military or any security agency close to them.

“We appreciate the cooperation received from the general public during the Sallah celebrations.”
