In a bid to check the activities of terrorists and other criminals in Borno State, the hot bed of Boko Haram terrorism, military authorities have announced a ban on all vehicular movement in the state, particularly the capital, Maiduguri, during the Eid-el-Kabir festivities from 5pm on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 ’till further notice.”

This was disclosed in a statement signed by Army spokesman, Col. Tukur Gusau, Deputy Director, Army Public Relations.

The statements said: “The restriction on vehicular movement will be observed during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations throughout the state.

“All movements using vehicles, bicycles and animals like horses, camels and donkeys in Maiduguri will be restricted as from Wednesday 5pm, September 23, 2015.

“Similarly, all vehicular movements into and out of Maiduguri town will also be restricted within the period till further notice.

“The decision is in line with the new resolve of the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies in Operation Lafiya Dole to ensure that the people of Borno State enjoy hitch-free Sallah celebrations.”
