Armed robbers in EFCC uniforms paraded in Lagos

Six suspected armed robbers, who allegedly disguised as officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have been arrested and paraded by the Lagos State Police Command.

The suspects, arrested by the police detectives from the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) led by Abba Kyari, a Superintendent of Police include: Princewill Eze (55), aka Senator Nwobodo.

Others are:  Amira Abdallahi (33)  a Lebanese lady whose mother is from Edo State, Daniel Okpara(30), alias Dankwa, Paul Irior(37), Bassey Williams Ekpeyong,(39) and Royal Nwabuike,(32).

Exhibits recovered from the suspects include: one Bryco 59 pistol with serial no. 930945 with six rounds of 5.56MM live ammunition, single barrel pistol, cut to size with four lives cartridges, ash colour Toyota Highlander Jeep marked: LSR 110 DB, Toyota Highlander Jeep marked LSR 671 DK and  Toyota Highlander Jeep marked:  KTU 38U

Others are: a Toyota sienna with registration No: JJJ 424 CQ, one Toyota 4Runner marked KRD 449 BG, one unregistered Toyota Camry and N4millon cash.

Lagos Police Commissioner, Kayode Aderanti said “before the parade of the suspects that on Wednesday, February 25, this year at about 5 p.m., he received a tip-off that a gang of armed robbers were about to strike.”

According to him, the suspects, who all wore EFCC uniforms and armed with handcuffs and  guns planned to  rob bureau de change operators in Abuja and Lagos state of foreign currencies, such as dollars, pound sterling and Euro.

“I immediately directed the 0/C SARS, Abba kyari, a Superintendent of Police to go after the robbers, where their kingpin, one Princewell Eze, a.k.a Senator Nwobodo, who lives at Victoria Garden City in Ajah, Lagos was eventually arrested February 27, at about 4p.m.

The Lagos CP further disclosed that the  confession of Eze  led to the arrest of a female lebanese and gang member, one Amira Abdallahi,  Daniel Okpara  a.k.a Dankwa,  Paul Irior,  37yrs who is a dismissed Police Corporal, Bassey Williams Ekpenyong,  39yrs who was charged to Court by SARS for kidnapping in 2012 and one Royal Nwabuike.
