The Methodist Archbishop of Enugu, Most Rev. Christopher Nweke Ede, has challenged President Muhammadu Buhari to give his anti-corruption war a human face.
Speaking with journalists at Wesley Cathedral Uwani Enugu shortly after a thanksgiving service to mark his Golden Jubilee, Ede said he was fully in support of President Buhari’s ongoing anti-corruption war.
The cleric said he was in support of anything that could be done to make people to be of good conduct in the society.
Ede said the Church abhors corruption and therefore, he would support any effort made towards the eradication of graft from the Nigerian society in its entirety.
“However, I appeal to Mr. President to make sure that his war against corruption has human face. Today, because of his efforts at sanitizing the petroleum sector, you can see the hardship that people are going to get fuel.
“Marketers are now selling fuel for 250 a litre. You can see the queue at filling stations. I can tell you, if not because of this fuel crisis, you would have seen more people in this function” Ede said.
He noted that Nigerians have been lamenting that the kind of change they were seeing today was not what they bargained and urged those in authority to be sensitive to the plight of those who voted for them
