Feelers from police formations in Lagos and Abuja indicate that Mr. Solomon Arase, Inspector-General of Police, may soon proceed on terminal leave, preparatory to his retirement.
Arase, an Indigene of Edo State, born on June 26, 1956, joined the Nigeria Police Force on December 2, 1981. He served in various commands and units of the police nationwide and was appointed head of the police force in 2015 to replace Alhaji Suleiman Abba as the 18th IGP.
Having attained the mandatory 35 years in the service, police sources have said he may be preceding on terminal leave this month or in early April.
However, police sources informed Independent that President Muhammed Buhari has the final say on whether Arase stays or goes.
Olabisi Kolawole, police spokesperson, could not be reached on phone for official comment.
