Benin – The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate in the Edo governorship election, Osaro Onaiwu, on Wednesday declared that given the current state of the nation, government needs to focus more on agro-economy to alleviate the sufferings of the populace.

The APGA candidate while speaking on how he intends to improve on the economy of the state as well as the living standard of Edo people, cited Anambra State as a role model where agricultural produce are been exported.

Onaiwu assured that if elected governor of Edo State his administration will invest more in agriculture which, he believes, will change the state economy for good.

Onaiwu, who is fondly called Solution, emphasised that concentrating on agriculture is the solution to addressing the current state of the economy in the country; hence, if given the mandate, he will ensure a boost in the economy by ensuring that there is food security, employment, as well as generation of revenue for the development of the state.

According to him, “It’s all about capacity. Edo State has enough land to farm, the best of wood for example and good soil to grow virtually most farm produce.

“Anambra is an APGA state, for example, and the governor there has turned the economy of the state around focusing on mainly agriculture. We in Edo State can do same and even more”, he said.

The former Director General, Nigeria Governors’ Forum, therefore, called all the electorate in the Edo State to come out en-masse and exercise their franchise while urging them to entrust their vote to APGA and not to be deceived or manipulated by anyone against their wish on who governs them.
