The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Dr. Alex Otti has come under heavy criticisms over his message on the 24th anniversary of the creation of Abia State, which a group has described as the antics of desperation and relevant seeking.

Addressing newsmen in Umuahia, the President of Independent Democrats, a Non-Governmental Organisation Jonathan Ebere insisted that his message was uncalled for, and that he should wait for his time as governor before embarking on such activity.

According to Ebere, since the state governor has made a state broadcast on the anniversary, there was no need for anybody including politicians to embark on such activity, except those sending goodwill messages to the government.

“I have never seen such a thing happen in this state since 1999 and I have never seen such a thing anywhere in Nigeria. How can he do such a thing. From what he has done, it has clearly shown that he is desperate in his quest to become the governor of Abia State. I think such desperation ought not to be the case at this point in time”

“Even though I recognise and accept the fact that his fundamental rights are enshrined in the constitution, but such rights have limits and did not make room for desperate individuals who must bring the entire state in embarassment.
