National chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, at weekend stated that those prophesying the disintegration of the party as a result of the current crisis in the party occasioned by the National Assembly leadership selection were jokers, noting the current challenges were anticipated but would be resolved  soon.

He attributed the seeming delay by the APC Federal Government in the appointment of Ministers and other boards to what he described as “the over 50 years misrule, not 16 as people have been saying”.

Oyegun pointed out that the nation had always been led by conservatives, adding that it would take some time for a progressive President in the person of Mohammadu Buhari to correct the decay in the system, which according to him, would set the nation on the path of greatness.

The APC boss stated this weekend at the 29th coronation and 60th birthday of the Onojie of Opoji, Edo State, His Royal Highness, Aidenojie Ehidiamen 1.

Other dignitaries at the event included the deputy Governor of Edo State, Dr Pius Odubu, a representative of the Governor of Sokoto State, former governor of Edo State, Prof. Osarhiemen Osunbor, state chairman of APC, Anslem Ojezua, Charles Airhiavbere and many others.

Oyegun, who noted that the APC was experiencing turbulent time, said, “It is totally a new experience for a progressive party to be in power and you know what progressive parties are like.

“They like debate; they like argument; they like to hear all parts of the story. this is exactly what we are going through now.

“It has brought stress; there is no question about it; but it has not digressed the party; it has not changed our focus. The President is committed, doing his best and very soon things will stand back. It is unfortunate, nobody likes quarrel within the party but if we have a quarrel then so be it, you quarrel, you sort out things and you move on and that is what is happening.

“But those thinking also that the APC will disintegrate as a result of the National Assembly crisis are jokers because we will come out stronger and better,” he stated.

He added, “People are saying that we are slow but we should all know that President Buhari intends to fulfil his electioneering promises and he does not intend to do it in a hurry because of the past years of misrule.
