Broom sellers in Jos, Plateau State capital, are making brisk business as residents of the town celebrate All Progressives Congress (APC) victory at the governrship polls.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that immediately the result of the election was announced in the early hours of Monday, party supporters rushed to markets and shops to buy brooms for use in celebration. The broom is the official symbol of the APC. At Old Airport junction in Jos South local Government area, party loyalists attached brooms to their clothes, caps and head ties as a sign of victory.

Many vehicles owners also used brooms as their windscreen wipers, just as some attached same to their side mirrors.

A cab driver, Musa Aliyu, said he felt highly delighted over the victory and that the best way of expressing such delight was to attach brooms to his vehicle.

At Terminus Market in the Jos North Local Government area, stalls were decorated with brooms and APC flags.

NAN observed that as supporters of APC were chanting victory songs, broom sellers identified and relocated to areas of such celebration to make brisk business.

Mallam Ismail Musa, a broom seller, told NAN that he sold triple the number he was used to sell, just as the APC supporters kept demanding for more.
