The Timipre Sylva campaign organisation on Thursday commended delegates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for electing former Governor Timipre Sylva as the party’s governorship candidate for the December 5 governorship election in Bayelsa State.

The campaign team also applauded the peaceful conducts of both the delegates and aspirants throughout the process of the rescheduled primary.

Sylva polled a total of 981 votes to emerge winner at the rescheduled primary conducted on Wednesday at the state secretariat of the party in Yenagoa, the state capital.

The APC primary election to pick a candidate for the governorship poll in the state had been cancelled and rescheduled following dispute over the first exercise conducted on 22 September, which Sylva claimed to have won.

In a statement in Yenagoa by Doifie Buokoribo, the Sylva campaign team also thanked former NDDC chief, Timi Alaibe, “for his sportsman-like steps to calm frayed nerves before the commencement of Wednesday’s exercise.”

Part of the statement read: “We are extremely grateful to all the delegates for their votes, which earned Timipre Sylva victory at the primary election conducted Wednesday, 30 September.

“We thank all our supporters, the aspirants, and the entire APC family in Bayelsa State for your peaceful conduct during the course of the primary election.

“We are especially appreciative of your loyalty, not only to our candidate for the 5 December governorship election, Sylva, but also to the cause of progress for our state under an APC government.”
